The largest logistics center in Croatia officially opened – €100 million investment

June 6, 2025

With a ceremonial ribbon cutting, RC Zone Samobor logistics complex was officially opened yesterday in the Bobovica economic zone near Samobor. This marked the completion of the project’s first phase – 43,000 m² of modern warehouse space has been commissioned, fully leased to tenants and ready for operations.

The project is part of one of the largest greenfield investments in Croatian logistics, worth €100 million, developed by the Czech investment group RC Europe. Alongside the opening of the first phase, construction on the second half of the facility is already underway. Upon completion, RC Zone Samobor will cover a total of 86,000 m², making it the largest logistics and distribution center in Croatia.

The spacious complex has already attracted major tenants – the latest being dm-drogerie markt

This debut investment by RC Europe in Croatia has already drawn renowned logistics and distribution tenants such as DB Schenker, Milšped, Logaritam, Commel Zagreb, with dm-drogerie markt being the latest to join the center.

The event gathered numerous distinguished guests, including the representative of the government of the Republic of Croatia, Minister of Economy Mr. Ante Šušnjar, H.E. Milan Hovorka, Ambassador of the Czech Republic to Croatia, Deputy Prefect of Zagreb County Mr. Ervin Kolarec, Mayor of Samobor Ms. Petra Škrobot, and RC Europe Co-Owners Mr. Miloslav Hartman and Mr. Jan Prokop.

Remarks from the investors, authorities, and Czech ambassador

The event began with a short video presentation of the project, followed by speeches from RC Europe’s co-owners, Croatian officials, and the Czech Ambassador.

RC Europe co-owners Miloslav Hartman and Jan Prokop thanked all partners, collaborators, and the local community for their support in realizing this strategically significant project.

“A simple ‘thank you’ is in order! Thank you to our team in Croatia, and to the Mayor of Samobor. We’ve been preparing this site for eight years,” said Hartman in Croatian. Prokop added, “I hope we’ll see each other again next year for the opening of the second phase of this logistics park.”

Mayor Petra Škrobot expressed her pride and satisfaction in having such a major project realized in Samobor. “Thank you to the whole team for choosing Samobor for such an important development. This is only the beginning of our cooperation. As mentioned, more phases are coming. We’re excited and fully supportive, as Samobor has a long-standing tradition in entrepreneurship and craftsmanship,” she said.

Czech Ambassador Milan Hovorka emphasized the historic and modern ties between Croatia and the Czech Republic. “It’s good to be back in Samobor, and today we have a great reason. This city already bears strong Czech heritage, and I’m happy we are leaving another, entirely positive mark for the future of Samobor – one that I firmly believe will support further development and prosperity for the city and Zagreb County,” he said.

Minister of Economy Ante Šušnjar also addressed the audience, highlighting the government’s commitment to supporting projects like this through strategic initiatives. “RC Zone Samobor is a strong example of synergy between public and private sectors and shows that Croatia has the capacity to be a gateway to this part of Europe, positioning itself as a logistics hub for goods from east and west. In this well-connected location, a new hub for investment, entrepreneurship, and knowledge is emerging – built to meet both local and regional demand in line with EU standards,” said Šušnjar, government envoy. “Through tools like the Investment Incentives Act, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, and the Competitiveness and Cohesion Program, the state recognizes and supports projects that transform our economic landscape. RC Zone Samobor is further proof that these initiatives bring tangible results.”

Musical performance by students from Samobor’s Ferdo Livadić Music School

Following the official remarks, students from the Ferdo Livadić Music School performed several well-known songs on tamburica instruments, delighting the guests.

The highlight of the event was the ceremonial ribbon cutting, officially opening RC Zone Samobor. Attendees were then invited to enjoy refreshments, speak with officials and investors, and join a guided tour of the new logistics facility. Construction of the second phase began immediately following the opening.
